The Hudson River Valley area is home to many grand estates from the home of one of our greatest presidents to majestic mansions of famous wealthy families. The Franklin D. Roosevelt Home (800-967-2283) in Hyde Park is the lifelong home of FDR, and includes a museum on his life and works, as well as tours of the home and a lovely rose garden. Just down the road from FDR’s home is Eleanor's home Valkill (800-967-2283)

are now state-owned and offer tours or the mansion and gardens, as well as carriage rides, picknicking grounds, and rental spaces for weddings. Also worth a visit are the Staatsburgh (845-889-8851), furnished in the styles of Louis XIV, XV and XVI; the Victorian Wilderstein Home (845-876-4818), replete with Tiffany interiors and windows; and Frederic Church’s Moorish-style castle, Olana (518-828-0135), with stunning views of the Hudson.
