We are committed to these goals while maintaining our high standards for guest comfort and enjoyment.

We have achieved Green Concierge Certification, Silver level !

We have demonstrated our dedication to the Green Concierge program through staff trainings, the implementation of recommendations and adherence to the Tier One-Bronze set of standards of the program.

Our Sustainable Practices

We are implementing the following practices to comply with the Bronze Tier standards of the GC certification:

  • We have adopted an environmental policy and will continue to track our energy, water, waste and recycling practices.

  • Our Bed and Breakfast uses non-toxic cleaning products for all guest rooms, and we purchase paraben and sodium sulfate-free toiletries in recycled packaging.  We supply Brita filters in guest room fridges and do not provide plastic bottles of water.

  • We are now purchasing a minimum 30% recycled content copy papers. We  print on both sides, and we use cloth napkins and a minimum of 50% recycled content toilet tissues.

  • We have a policy to replace expired light bulbs with energy efficient LED’s throughout the year.

  • We have installed high seer Mitsubishi heat pumps and AC units throughout the inn.

  • We encourage our guests to re-use towels and put towels they wish to replace in the tub.

  • We recycle all papers, cans, food containers and universal waste. Please ask us if you have questions. We strive to adapt and reuse materials. All of our shopping is done with reusable shopping bags. All items in good condition that we can’t use, we donate to local charities. Our inn is furnished with antique furnishings throughout.

  • In 2013 we reinsulated the inn with 100% cotton denim waste in the roof and used closed cell eco-foam spray around the structure’s sill plate and in a newly renovated section of the Inn.

  • Our Green Team participated in a green training and will be actively involved in trainings throughout the coming year.

  • We compost all kitchen and yard waste. We grow herbs and vegetables, and our chickens provide us with morning eggs.

  • We proudly support local land conservation organizations through donations and volunteering.

We welcome questions about our environmental practices and welcome new ideas.2017.

iconWhat is HospitalityGreen’s Green Concierge Eco-Business Certification®?

Some call it a bird, others a flower or a leaf, either way this is the symbol proudly carried by HospitalityGreen’s Green Concierge® (GC) Certified businesses, a nationally recognized third-party certification. The eco-business certification, initially developed in 2009 for New York Catskill lodging properties, currently has 84 lodging properties in Delaware, Massachusetts and most recently 37 participating businesses for the City of Santa Fe, New Mexico.

HospitalityGreen LLC is a New York based consulting firm specializing in environmental and operations consulting services. HospitalityGreen partners with service-based and product-based clients throughout the hospitality, manufacturing and institutional healthcare industries, to implement sustainable business practices.

The Green Concierge (GC) Certification ®, conceived by HospitalityGreen in 2009, works with tourism and lodging facilities throughout the U.S. to help improve their economic vitality and their sustainable business practices without compromising service delivery or customer satisfaction. The GC Eco-Business Certification provides a third–party audit for improvements in resource conservation and a company culture of environmentally conscious business practices. The GC Certification process is structured in three tiers (Bronze, Silver and Gold) – with each tier representing a realistic benchmark and advancement to subsequent tiers dependent upon a business’ commitment, their verifiable resource tracking, their dedication to developing a company culture grounded in resource conservation and their pursuit of increasingly rigorous sustainable practices.
